Solderpro 110K Butane Soldering Iron Review

Table of Contents

One tool that every hobbyist knows he must have in his tool kit is a good reliable soldering iron. But when you’re out on the field, and have to make some quick repair, if there is no power source available, what do you do? This is where nothing comes in handier than a cordless butane soldering iron.

You most likely have some experience with using traditional soldering irons. These irons get their power from an electric cord that needs to be connected to a power source. But if you are going to be out on the field, with no power source available, when it comes time to make some quick repair, you know you will need to find another option.

So now you’re looking at butane soldering irons, and you’re probably wondering “Is a butane soldering iron the right tool for the jobs I need to do, and are these tools reliable?”

Iroda Solderpro 110K

Precision Butane Powered Soldering Tools.

In this review we will take a look at the Iroda Solderpro 110K Cordless Soldering Torch/Iron Kit. This tool uses a fairly recently developed technology. It uses a butane, precision micro-flame for heating the soldering tip. With the introduction of butane-torch soldering irons, hobbyists as well as professionals now have at their fingertips one of the handiest and most convenient tools for completing soldering operations in a wide range of working environments.

Multi-function Heat Torch and Soldering Iron

Cordless butane soldering tools have been a revolution in the DIY community. One of the great advantages of a butane soldering tool is in its flexibility. You can use the tool either as butane torch for heat shrinking and other applications, or you can attach soldering tips to the tool and use it as a soldering iron.

A butane soldering tool has a housing at the tip which encloses a fine tipped flame. This housing has a catalyst inside. When a tip is attached to the tool, this catalyst transfers the heat from the flame to the soldering tip. When no soldering tip is attached, the tool can be used with a hot air blower tip as a hot air torch.

This makes the butane soldering torch tool extremely adaptable for variety of soldering applications and for many craft projects.  A nifty butane soldering tool is handy, easy to use, and costs almost the same as a good quality electric cord soldering iron.

How Do you Pick the Right Cordless Butane Soldering Iron?

What does the Iroda Solder Pro 110 Kit contain?

The Solder Pro 110K kit includes the solder Pro 110 multi-function heat tool, a protective cap, a roll of solder, a cleaning sponge and attachments for use with a variety of applications. There is a hot knife attachment, a flameless heat blow tip, a conical soldering tip, a chisel soldering tip and a shrink tube deflector. The heat tool has a built-in stand to hold the tool between uses.

How much power does the tool have, and how do you start it up?

Power Range

The Solder Pro 110K has a power range equivalent to an electric soldering iron of 35 to 125 watts. It’s cordless, it’s simple, and it’s safe to operate anywhere and you can solder within 25 seconds after igniting the torch. It has Piezo electronic ignition, so to start, you simply slide open the Gas Control Lever to start the flow of butane and click up the On/Off Ignition Switch.

While running, you can adjust the flame by sliding the flame control higher or lower. To turn the torch off, slide the On/Off switch down, and turn off the butane.

Heat Up Time and Soldering Temperatures to Meet the Job

The Solderpro 110K heats up in under 25 seconds and the variable heat control can be adjusted to deliver soldering tip temperatures of up to 842℉ (450℃), and a max torch temperature of up to 1300℉ (650℃).

As the iron heats up from the quick combustion of gas, this provides a very quick heat up. This means soldering can be completed in considerably less time.

Safety Cap and Storage Case

Even if the torch is hot, you can pop the safety cap onto the tool and the safety lock will lock the cap into position. This will prevent the ignition switch from turning on accidentally while in your pocket or between uses.

After use, you can put the tool back in the case even while it’s hot because the case has a metal sleeve to protect the tip and case from damage. Just close the cover for storage, as the kit comes with a rugged carrying case.

How long will the torch run before I need to refill it?

This little hand-held iron can easily run for an hour or two on a single refilling of butane fuel. This long run time makes the Solder Pro 110 the ideal tool for when you will be out in the field for long periods of time, away from any other power source.

How do I refill it?

The tool refills at the bottom with readily available butane. The solder Pro 110 has a see-through fuel tank so you can easily tell how much run time you have left.

Quick heat up and high temperature, combined with its long operating time, makes the Solder Pro 110 butane soldering iron the ideal tool for remote jobs.

Cost Efficiency

Butane fuel is quite cheap, so the refilling of a butane soldering iron is very cost-effective.

Multiple tips for a variety of functions.

The solder Pro 110 truly is a multi-function tool.  One nice thing is you don’t need any tools to change tips. You can go from torch mode to soldering mode, or change tips by simply unscrewing the collar at the base of the housing, placing a soldering tip into the collar, and screwing the collar back onto the tool.

With this assortment of tips, the tool can be used for a variety of applications, including soldering, Styrofoam cutting, plastic cutting and much more.

Torch Flame Applications

The flameless heat blow tip can be used for heat shrink wrapping and heat shrinking of tubing for wire connections.

Summary

The Solder Pro 110 Kit really is an attractive kit that you can use for a broad range of field repairs, automotive and truck repairs, aviation service repairs, and much more. The Solder Pro 110 Kit is manufactured by Iroda, a reliable company that has been selling butane powered tools since 1988.
